Forest cover in Africa

Central African forests are the world’s largest carbon sink (11% of the global biomass carbon stock and or 5.5% of the world’s forest area) and represent over 40% of the regions land. Central African forest size has declined by 9% since 2000 according to the FAO. In South Africa, forests represent 15% of total land area.
