Hospital bed density around the world

According to the Ministry of Health, the number of hospital beds per 1000 population stood at 1.7 in 2022 in South Africa. This is down from 3.1 in 2002 (according to WHO data). This is lower than in many major emerging markets, though higher than in countries such as Mexico and India.
