Natural capital as a percentage of national wealth

According to estimates from the World Bank, coal represented about 4% of South Africa’s total national stock of wealth in 2018, followed by croplands and pastoral land, which represented a further 3.5%. Natural capital represents a larger share of wealth in Africa overall, but much less in OECD economies.
