Government’s major spending priorities are largely unchanged over the next two years compared to their 2023/24 levels, with the public wage bill taking up around 32% relative of total expenditure, followed by debt-service costs (taking up around 16%). Despite cutbacks to social grant allocations, they continue to take up 11% of expenditure, a similar proportion to total healthcare expenditure.
