SA National Treasury debt projections

National Treasury’s debt projections have drifted higher since the global financial crisis, reflecting persistent primary deficits and repeated downward revisions to projections of economic growth. A large contribution to the improvement in the debt profile  between the 2021 and 2022 Budget Reviews came from the upward revision to the level of South Africa’s GDP (by 11% in 2020, for example).

EconData’s Public Finance module makes it easy to assess historical forecast revisions from Budget Review data without having to manually copy data from individual budget documents. You can also automate any workflows that use such data, whether you work in excel or using R. Get in touch if you are interested in subscribing to EconData.
