Rising banking transaction volumes, falling real transaction values in SA

South Africa’s SAMOS system is owned by the South African Reserve Bank and facilitates the settlement of domestic payment transactions. The volume of transactions have increased strongly since 2016, the value of transactions has not kept up with inflation.
