Inflation for rich and poor since the pandemic in SA

Because the wealthy and low-income groups consume different goods and services, the inflation rates they experience vary. Low-income individuals (decile 1) have generally faced higher inflation since the pandemic —approximately 2 percentage points more than the wealthiest group (decile 10) since March 2020, according to StatsSA’s estimates.
