Freight costs on a shipment of beer to the UK from South Africa were estimated to be about 10 percent of value of the shipment by UNCTAD in 2016. Transport costs for South African beer shipments were estimated to be slightly higher than those from many other emerging markets, both in terms of import value and adjusting for the distance.
