Taxpayers earning over R2 million per year in taxable income account for only 2% of taxpayers but contribute almost 30% of the total personal income tax take in South Africa. Those earning below R350k represented over 40% of taxpayers in 2024 but contributed only around 5% of personal income tax revenues.
