While South Africa runs a large trade surplus for wine, we run a trade deficit for beer. We import large quantities of beer from Namibia, the Netherlands and Mexico, while our beer exports mostly go to our neighbours. Our wine imports come mostly from France, while the biggest markets for our exports are the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
