Contribution to petrol pump price in SA

Since the rand values of fuel taxes, levies and margins are set periodically by government, their proportional contributions to the retail fuel price vary with changes in the basic fuel price. Today’s post by Jan-Hendrik Pretorius shows that the current tax relief that has been applied has seen the contribution of taxes and levies to the retail price of inland 95 octane petrol fall from almost 50% in mid-2020 to 18% at present.
