Today’s post by Jason Vermaak and Johan Hanekom shows the Top 20 South African wines rated on Vivino based on their value for money for under R100 per bottle. The figure is ordered counterclockwise, with the Van Loveren African Java Pinotage 2025 was the top value for money red wine and the Stellenbosch Vineyards Bushvine Chenin Blanc 2024 the highest value for money white wine. The length of the line of the wines listed show their per bottle price.
In this earlier post we uncorked a global comparison of value for money of wines listed on Vivino. Per US dollar spent, South African wines offer relatively high value for money. However, Lebanon and Croatia offer higher average wine ratings when wine prices are expressed in common currency.
