Since 2008, wages at Transnet have increased much faster than CPI, particularly in the Rail Freight and Port Terminal groups. Wages grew slower than inflation over the last year. 
Executive director remuneration has also exceeded inflation since 2008, although incentive payments have been eliminated and non-executive director pay has fallen in real terms.
