According to the Global Data Barometer, South Africa is falling behind global best practice for data availability and sharing. South Africa’s scores are particularly low for open government data initiatives, frameworks that support data sharing or availability of procurement data. Encouragingly, South Africa performs well with respect to availability of budget and public finance data (see also here) and data protection governance.
