The population of South Africa has risen from around 5 million in 1904 to over 60 million currently. The racial breakdown has shifted from 67% African, 22% white, 9% Coloured and 2% Asian to 81% African, 8.8% Coloured, 7.7% white and 2.5% Asian over that period.
