Education and health receive the most provincial expenditure by far, followed by public roads & transport, local government & housing, and social development as the fifth-biggest category. This data are easily accessible via our Provincial Budget Module on EconData. As far as we know this is the only source of this dataset in an easy to use form for use in automating workflows that use such data, whether you work in excel, R or Python. The dataset is incredibly detailed: it has about 25 million rows of data and our cleaned and structured version almost 120 thousand series in 2024 alone. See the user guide here.
