Not many central banks publish details of the remuneration levels of their Governors. The SARB Governor receives a salary that is comparable to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor. In SARB’s case, the Governor’s salary is almost 100 times the country’s Gross National Income per capita.
The spike in the Bank of England Governor’s remuneration reflected the appointment of Mark Carney, whose total package included higher taxable benefits.
