Among South African National government departments that have data available since 2010, Public Works saw the fastest average wage growth at 11% per year since 2010, followed by Water and Sanitation at about 9%. However, as the second chart shows this reflects a very dramatic decline in the headcount of these departments, according to GTAC data.
