Companies earning less than R10 million rand a year represented 98% of companies registered for tax assessment in South Africa, but contributed only 11 percent to company tax collections in 2023. Companies earning over R200 million in taxable income (around 550 companies) contributed almost 65% of the total company tax take in South Africa in 2023.
