Breakdown of South Africa’s population

International migrants represent around 4% of South Africa’s population, up from 2% in 1996.  The African population’s share in the total population has risen to 79% from 75%. The other large change in a population groups’ share has been the white population share which is down below 7% from 11% in 1996, even though the overall white population has been relatively stable overall.
