ASISA data update - Codera Analytics

ASISA data update

Codera Analytics has added the 2024Q4 ASISA local fund holdings data to EconData. The existing ASISA data starts at 2006Q3, and this quarter adds on 95 197 data points, bringing the total ASISA holdings data points in EconData to 5.3 million, across 381 397 series. The data includes holdings at the sub-asset level for all individual funds. The unit trust market has 1777 active funds at present.

In 2024Q4, several new sector categories were added to the classification scheme, in order to improve how funds aligned with their benchmarks. These new categories are:

  • South African – Equity – SA General (DEDE)
  • South African – Multi Asset – SA High Equity (DASA)
  • South African – Interest Bearing – Variable Term ILB (DILB)
  • Global – Equity – Africa (FEAF)
  • Global – Multi Asset – Unclassified (GAVS)
  • Global – Interest Bearing – Unclassified (GIVS)

The chart below shows ASISA’s introduction of the South African equity category, which separates out those funds with no offshore exposure from the previous general South African equity category.
