The size of the Russian central bank and its budget is much larger than the central banks of other economies, but has been declining over time. New Zealand’s central bank’s relative size has been rising strongly since 2016. The sizes of other major central banks have been reasonably stable over time by comparison. The SARB’s budget is large relative to advanced economy central banks, but it does not stand out in terms of its total number of employees.
