The World Uncertainty Index has increased meaningully since 2012, and spiked dramatically during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Uncertainty in South Africa is down from its highs during 2017 (following the dismissal of the Finance Minister and subsequent election of Ramaphosa as President) but remains elevated.
