Bonds generally have lower risk and lower returns than equities. South African sovereign bonds have had only slightly lower risk and slightly lower historical returns than South African equities over the last 5 years. US equities, on the other hand, provided high returns at relatively low risk over this period. Bitcoin provided high returns as well, but at very high risk.
