Real yield curves for selected economies

While sovereign yield curves of many countries are inverted at the moment, South Africa’s is very steep. The chart below adjusts yield by current inflation to compare the levels of long-term real yields. Mexico, by way of example, currently has higher real interest rates at short maturities than South Africa, but South Africa’s real yields are much higher at longer horizons.
