The Purchasing Managers Index for South Africa turned positive (rose above a value of 50) in December, suggesting a pickup in business activity. Interestingly, the correlation between the ABSA PMI and the BER Business Confidence index has been roughly 60% stronger than between the PMI and the SACCI Business Confidence index since 2015.
