Based on the MSCI Equity Index, the average return to US equities has been over 12% annually in USD terms since 2010. The South African index returned over 9% annually in ZAR terms, but less than 3% in USD terms. That is about 0.5% less annually in both ZAR and USD terms than for the emerging markets index.
