Composition of the retail fuel price in SA

The increase in the pump price of petrol since 2020 has reflected a big increase in the basic fuel price, but also increases in taxes and levies and the other domestically-determined components of retail prices. We showed in earlier posts (here and here) that this reflects the much larger cumulative increase in domestic taxes (the road accident fund levy), transport costs and margins.
