Among South African National government departments that have data available since 2010, Road and Transport saw the fastest average wage growth at almost 10% per year since 2010, followed by Public Works and Justice and Constitutional Development and Water and Sanitation at about 9%. However, as this earlier post shows, this reflects a very dramatic decline in the headcount of these departments, according to GTAC data. The departments that have seen the largest increase in headcount are Women, Safety, Security and Liasson and Environmental Affairs.
