TED spreads

The TED spread is a measure of credit and liquidity risk, calculated as the difference between the rate banks lend to each other and the Government’s short-term borrowing costs. Whereas it has generally been positive in the US, it has been largely negative in South Africa over the last 7 years on account of elevated sovereign risk.
