Reserve Adequacy in selected EMEs

The most recent update of the IMF’s assessment of foreign reserve adequacy across countries find that South Africa’s reserves meets the IMF’s assessment of an adequate level. In an earlier post, we showed that South Africa’s foreign reserves stood at around 16% of GDP, at a comparable relative level to Brazil and India at the time.
