Statistics South Africa’s recent revisions to provincial GDP were largest for the North West (in real growth rate terms) and for the Northern Cape in (nominal level terms). Average growth rates for the 5 years between 2014 and 2019 were raised by almost 0.2 per annum across the provinces. The rebased size of regional economies are in line with the national economy GDP revisions, at an average across provinces of around 11% for 2019. Revisions to the level of real GDP is much larger, at an average of 45% across provinces.
