The remuneration for the position of SARB Governor has risen much faster than for that of the President, growing at a compound annual average of 7.1% compared to 5.0% since 2004. Over the last year, the Governor’s total pay package rose by 5.6% compared to 2.7% in consumer price inflation (CPI) in 2024/25 (10.2% vs 5.9% CPI previous year). The SARB governor’s salary is similar to that of the governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in common currency terms.
