Today’s post compares the Automotive Business Council (Naamsa) vehicle sales figures to the electronic national administration traffic information system (NaTIS) data. Since 2016, the NaTIS new registrations have been about 10% higher than the Naamsa total new vehicle sales, and shows significant seasonality. According to NaTIS, there are about 13 million registered vehicles in South Africa, with cars representing 60% of that figure.
